About

Official Bio

A native of Orange County, California, Nick Bogardus spent a decade in the music industry. Eight of those years he ran New Noise Management, an artist management company that oversaw the careers of bands like Thrice, Cold War Kids, and Matt Costa. He took his experience to Biola University as an adjunct professor, creating and teaching the school’s first music management class. Nick and his wife Kim then spent a year and half doing ministry in Mongolia before moving to Seattle. In Seattle, Nick served as the the Director of PR/Media Relations at Mars Hill. He, his wife, and daughter have now moved back to Orange County to plant Mars Hill Church Orange County.

Why am I here?

I believe in change and the hope of transformation. I believe Jesus and his Gospel are the only true hope for either. I love the Church because he died for it and it’s his instrument to transform people and places. I love analyzing culture affectionately, both how it shapes us and where it is going, so that we can live as better missionaries in the places we live.

I’m driven to influence and initiate change in people and the church by proclaiming the wonder and the sufficiency Jesus’ Gospel; innovating with others towards shared goals; identifying trends, problems, or opportunities many people overlook; and helping people discover, develop, and direct their identity in Christ and the gifts he has given them.

This is my personal blog, though I also occasionally write in other places. I have written for Transworld Skateboarding, Alternative Press, and Meanstreet Magazine. I also contributed to the liner notes for Thrice’s Vheissu album and If We Could Only See Us Now DVD.
